More on
the PEX Program
NOTE: Text in files should be read
alphabetically by last name of sponsor in columns, top to bottom.
| The PEX program ("Proyecto
Educativo de Xela Aid) was begun in 1995 by Xela Aid
volunteer and Board Member Anna Maria Flores, a social
worker from Southern California's Inland Valley. To meet
some of the PEX Program's graduates and alumni, see the
link above. (Alphabetical by last name of sponsor in
columns, top to bottom) When Xela Aid came to the village of San Martin Chiquito, the
children who went to school stayed only an average of
four years (age 6-10); and a few girls attended school.
Over the years the program has flourished. Today, under
the leadership of Xela Aid Director Patricia Maxwell,
about 80 children enjoy the benefits of the program.
Children sponsored through Xela Aid's PEX program not
only commonly exceed the 1995 four-year average by far,
but commonly go on to high school, technical school and
college. To meet some of the PEX Program's graduates and
alumni, see the link above.
