Traditionally San Martin women wear huipiles resembling the red part of this coat. The red representing suffering and the birds representing freedom or flight. This coat is woven 100% on a back strap loom. The black is soft plain weave and the red is complex tapestry . The back of the coat is black plain weave. The coat is fully lined and hand tailored in Xela.
