Angelica is 8 years old and in the second grade of Elementary School in La Cumbre. She is the second of three children. Her father works in the agricultural trade in the east of Guatemala and her mother works in the fields and does laundry locally. Maria has been part of Xela Aid’s Special Needs program for two years because she has mobility challenges resulting from talipes equinovarus (clubfoot). She is an eager student who attends our Study Center daily, wants to study and get good grades. In her free time Maria helps with the housework, plays with her brothers or her dog Raya. Her favorite course at school is math and she wants to train to become a teacher.
