Carlos U.

Carlos is 10 years old and in 4th grade at the La Cumbre elementary school which he attends every morning. He enjoys the math classes most because he likes to work with numbers. He has one older sister and lives in his aunt’s house. Carlos’s father works as a minibus driver and supports the 5 members of the household. When he is at home, Carlos helps his mother with housework and feeds all his animals. His family have rabbits, chickens, and dogs. In his free time, he likes to watch television (especially Masha the Bear) and play soccer with his friends and his sister. Carlos attends a Catholic church group locally and likes spending time with his family most. He wants a scholarship so that he can fulfill his dream of become a policeman and helping his family to have a better future in Guatemala.
