Wendy V.

Wendy is 12 years old and comes from Aldea Toj Con Chiquito, where she is in 6th grade. Wendy has been one of Xela Aid’s Special Needs students for 2 years because she has hearing loss. At Xela Aid we provide classes for her in sign language and math. She also attends a local school where her favorite course is physical education because she loves sports.
She is an only child, and lives with 4 others in her grandfather's house. Wendy’s grandfather supports the family as an agricultural worker who grows and sells his own produce locally. During her free time Wendy likes to weave tablecloths to earn some income. She is passionate about creating new and colorful items. If she obtains a scholarship at Xela Aid, it would give her the opportunity to continue to improve her academic capabilities which would in turn give her more options in the future.
