Aldo (18 years old) comes from Las Nubes, and he is a first-year college student studying accounting at the Regional University in Quetzaltenango because his dream is to have his own accounting office. He attends classes at the weekend and completes his assignments at home during the week. His favorite course so far is in Introduction to Law. He is the youngest of seven children. His father can no longer work but generates income by renting out a truck that the family owns, and his brothers work to help cover the family expenses.
For relaxation, Aldo is learning the guitar. To support himself and contribute to the family’s costs, he works teaching accounting at a local middle school. He has applied for a Xela Aid scholarship because he has found that his income from his job is not sufficient to enable him to work and study at the same time.
