Ricardo Martin is 18 years old and about to enter High School in San Martin Sacatepequez in January 2024. He attends school every morning with homework given to him for the afternoons. He has been a participant in the LEAP Scholarship Program since 5th grade but needs a new sponsor. Ricardo is the second of three siblings and has been the head of his household for some years. He works in the vegetable fields locally to earn money to help his single mother with the family’s expenses. While working and studying is a challenge, he says that it is worth it because it gives him the opportunity to become a successful professional in the future by planning to specialize in auto mechanics at high school.
