Magdalena L.

Magdalena is a pre-primary student in a school that she attends every morning in Toj Mech. She likes to practice her letters and can read well. Although she is just 5 years old, she has already told us that she wants to be an engineer because she thinks it would be particularly interesting. A scholarship would mean that she could begin to make progress to fulfill that dream. Because of their difficult economic circumstances, it is unlikely that her family would be able to support her future studies.
Magdalena has 5 siblings, and they all live with their single mother and grandmother. In all, 8 people live in the house and are supported by Magdalena’s mother and grandmother, both of whom work as laundresses. She likes to play ball with her neighbors in her free time. She learned to read at the Xela Aid Montessori program which she has attended for 2 years.
